There is no better place to appreciate G-d’s glory than at the beach. That sentiment was evident at the Sunrise Minyan at the Beach prayer service, organized by Boca Raton Synagogue. The group gathered at the Palmetto Park Beach Gazebo, located at the eastern end of Palmetto Park Road, where it intersects with Highway A1A. Boca Raton Synagogue has been conducting the Sunrise Minyan at the Beach for the past decade on the last Friday before the end of each Jewish month, according to Rabbi Efrem Goldberg, the synagogue’s senior rabbi. “The Talmud teaches that praying exactly at sunrise is a particularly auspicious time to communicate with G-d,” Goldberg explained. “We cherish the opportunity to come together as a community and pray in such a beautiful setting every month,” one member said. Members of BRS who regularly attend the Sunrise Minyan at the Beach shared their thoughts on the experience. “Prayer reminds us that G-d is in control of everything. There is no better place to reinforce that truth than at the beach.” Attendance at the Sunrise Minyan at the Beach tends to be lower during the summer months due to Florida’s off-season and the earlier sunrise times.
