33-year-old Danit Ehrlich was reported missing over a week ago near the University of Montana. On Sunday, the Missoula Police Department announced that it is believed Ehrlich drowned in the Clark Fork River. She was last seen on Friday morning in a park in Missoula, MT. A few days after her disappearance, Matzil Search and Rescue was activated and flew in to assist. Their search efforts included helicopters, drones, ground teams, water searches, and underwater drones. Local authorities also deployed a dive team, water rescue units, drone teams, and sonar to aid in the search. Initially, ice covered the river, but rising temperatures allowed for more extensive search operations. On Sunday, March 9, Danit’s body was recovered. In a public statement, Matzil Search and Rescue expressed their condolences: "We regret to inform you that the body of Danit Ehrlich has been recovered. Though this is a heartbreaking outcome, we are grateful that the search has come to a close, bringing much-needed closure to her family and loved ones. "We extend our deepest appreciation to the agencies and individuals who dedicated their time and resources to this effort, including the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, Missoula County Search and Rescue, City of Missoula Police Department, Missoula Fire Department, Chabad Missoula, and Rabbi Wolf from Chabad in Florida (Beit David Highland Lakes). Their professionalism, commitment, and tireless work have been truly commendable. "Our thoughts and prayers remain with Danit’s family, and we hope they find comfort and strength in the support of their community."
