Coral Gables Firefighter rescue man trapped inside elevator

Coral Gables Fire Rescue responded to reports of a man trapped inside an elevator Monday.

It happened around 5:30p.m. at a building near Alcazar Avenue and Salzedo Street.

Upon arrival Engine 1 investigated and found an elevator car stuck in the blind shaft. Upon making contact with the individual in the elevator, crews were advised that the patient was having a medical episode.

Members of the Coral Gables Fire Department Technical Rescue Team devised a technical rescue operations where a rescue technician was lowered down the shaft via specialized equipment and techniques.

The Rescuer successfully made contact with the patient.

The Technical Rescue Team successfully extricated the patient from the stuck elevator and was handed over to Coral Gables Fire Paramedics for further evaluation and treatment.
