Fort Lauderdale Officer and Four Others Injured in Early Morning Crash in Davie

A Fort Lauderdale police officer and four others were injured in a crash early Monday morning in Davie while the officer was investigating a stolen vehicle.

According to Davie police, the crash occurred around 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 7 and Orange Drive. The officer’s vehicle collided with the suspect’s Hyundai Sonata, sending all five occupants to the hospital.

Injuries and Emergency Response

Davie Fire Rescue reported that four of the injured individuals were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, while the officer was taken to Broward Health Medical Center. Authorities confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

7News cameras captured the aftermath of the crash, showing the suspect’s vehicle severely damaged and the police SUV in poor condition. One of the men from the suspect’s vehicle was seen walking into the emergency room in handcuffs, while the others were cuffed to their stretchers.

By Monday evening, the officer had been released from the hospital.

Investigation and Traffic Disruptions

The crash also caused power outages to traffic lights at the intersection. Temporary traffic control measures were put in place to regulate the flow of vehicles along State Road 7.

While Davie Police are handling the crash investigation, Fort Lauderdale Police will continue investigating the stolen vehicle.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
