Gabriel Groisman Reflects on the Passing of Rabbi Sholom Lipskar, z”l

Former Bal Harbour Mayor Gabriel Groisman shared a heartfelt tribute following the passing of Rabbi Sholom Dovber Lipskar, z”l, the esteemed spiritual leader who helped shape the Jewish community of Bal Harbour.

“My Rabbi died last night,” Groisman wrote. “Rabbi Sholom Lipskar—the giant who quite literally built our community. It’s nearly impossible to process.”

Groisman described Rabbi Lipskar as more than a spiritual leader—he was a teacher, confidante, and friend. “He married me. He named my five daughters. He swore me in as Mayor. He prayed with me in moments of need, celebrated my highs, and lifted me during my lows.”

Rabbi Lipskar’s influence, Groisman noted, extended beyond the personal. “He taught me—and our entire community—what it means to be a proud Jew. His legacy will be felt for generations to come.”
