Hatzalah South Florida has joined the broader community in mourning the passing of Rabbi Sholom Lipskar, zt”l, the longtime spiritual leader of The Shul of Bal Harbour and founder of the Aleph Institute. A towering figure in Jewish life in South Florida, Rabbi Lipskar’s visionary leadership transformed a modest neighborhood into a flourishing center of Torah, compassion, and community. Rabbi Lipskar’s impact reached far beyond the pulpit. He was instrumental in championing numerous humanitarian and educational initiatives, including his strong support of Hatzalah South Florida. In a landmark moment, he hosted the signing of Governor Ron DeSantis’s Hatzalah bill at The Shul—an event that significantly reshaped the emergency medical landscape in the region. Following the tragic Surfside condominium collapse, Rabbi Lipskar was a steadfast source of strength and leadership, guiding his community and offering comfort to countless families during one of the area's darkest times. His legacy of service, kindness, and spiritual leadership will be felt for generations. Hatzalah South Florida extends its heartfelt condolences to Rabbi Lipskar’s family, congregation, and the entire South Florida community during this time of profound loss. Baruch Dayan HaEmet.
