Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Launches High-Visibility Policing Initiative

MIAMI-DADE – The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is enhancing community safety with the rollout of a High Visibility Policing initiative, beginning May 9. As part of this proactive strategy, patrol vehicles may be seen driving with steady red and blue lights illuminated—without flashing or sirens.

These steady lights are a key feature of high visibility policing, a proven tactic designed to deter reckless driving, discourage criminal activity, and provide a reassuring presence in public spaces such as neighborhoods, shopping centers, and major roadways.

This effort reflects the Sheriff’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safer, more connected community through visibility and engagement. The public is encouraged to wave, say hello, and know that their deputies are present and vigilant—not just in times of emergency, but every day.
