Following the tragic murder of two Israeli Embassy employees in Washington, D.C., Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle issued a forceful statement condemning the act as “a horrific example of hate expressed as dangerous action.” “The cold-blooded murder of two young Israeli Embassy employees in Washington, D.C., is a horrific example of hate expressed as dangerous action,” said Rundle. “Those who would champion hate seem to revel in the pain hate creates. Hate, in any form, can have no place in any self-respecting society or community.” Rundle extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and colleagues, while affirming that her office stands united with law enforcement and federal partners in the fight against antisemitism. She emphasized that Miami-Dade County will not tolerate hate crimes in any form. “My prayers and condolences go out to the families and colleagues of these young victims,” she said. “The people of Miami-Dade County should know that I, my prosecutors, and all our law enforcement partners, including the FBI, will thoroughly investigate any reported incident of anti-Semitic hate to uncover any evidence that may lead to a prosecutable crime. Messages of hate, discrimination and prejudice should never be allowed to stand.” Community members are encouraged to report any incidents of hate to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office Hate Crime Hotline at (786) 687-2566.
