Tri-Rail Sees Strong Ridership Growth with New One-Seater Ride to Downtown Miami

Tri-Rail’s new one-seat ride service to downtown Miami, which launched in July 2024, is already making waves with impressive ridership numbers. Passengers can now enjoy a direct, no-transfer trip between downtown Miami and West Palm Beach on a weekday southbound morning train and a northbound evening train.

Since its launch, the express service is averaging 450 round-trip passengers daily, with some days seeing over 500 riders. Prior to this, Tri-Rail began service to MiamiCentral in January 2024, requiring a transfer for passengers. That service reached 300 passengers per day by March 2024.

Overall, Tri-Rail’s weekday ridership has been strong, with an average of 15,000 daily riders since 2024. In 2025, ridership has climbed to 385,000 monthly passengers, a 2% increase over the previous year.

As of the first quarter of 2025, the busiest Tri-Rail stations are:

  1. Miami Airport
  2. Metrorail Transfer Station
  3. Fort Lauderdale Airport

Tri-Rail’s expanding services are continuing to provide commuters with convenient, efficient transportation options in South Florida!
