The Tax Collector’s office has announced the opening of three new service windows dedicated exclusively to driver’s license and motor vehicle transactions, aiming to ease long lines and improve customer experience. The historic initiative was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Tax Collector’s office in Downtown Miami. The new service windows allow the office to assist up to 90 people daily. Miami-Dade residents have already started benefiting from this expansion, which covers most driver’s license transactions, except for driving tests. This change is expected to eliminate the need for residents to camp out overnight to secure an appointment, a common sight at the DMV recently. Officials hope the new system will significantly shorten wait times across the county. Miami-Dade Tax Collector Daniel Fernandez emphasized, "This initiative is about more than just convenience. It's about making the government work for the people—reducing wait times, improving accessibility, and ensuring all residents have the resources they need without unnecessary obstacles." Both walk-ins and appointments will be accepted.
