Plane Crash in Boca Raton Leaves 3 Dead, 1 Injured

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Three people were killed and one person injured Friday morning after a Cessna 310 crashed shortly after takeoff near Military Trail and Glades Road, close to the Boca Raton Airport. Authorities say the plane was en route to Tallahassee when it went down around 10:20 a.m., exploding into flames.

Video from the scene showed the plane circling before crashing. Officials confirmed that all three people on board died, while one man on the ground was injured by debris but is expected to recover. A nearby driver escaped without injury.

A student pilot who heard the plane’s emergency transmissions said the pilot reported a rudder malfunction, which may have caused the aircraft to only turn left, ultimately preventing a safe landing.

Witnesses described hearing a loud boom and seeing smoke and fire after the crash. The NTSB will lead the investigation to determine the cause. Victims’ identities have not yet been released.

Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer expressed condolences to the victims’ families and praised first responders for their swift action.

Traffic and public transit were temporarily impacted, but Glades Road and I-95 ramps have since reopened, and Tri-Rail service has resumed with limited disruptions.
